Dr Tracy Chery-Nicolls

Counselling Psychologist (she/her)

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counselling Psychologist and just completed Doctoral research into the role of storytelling in mental health narratives from first-generation to second generation Sierra Leoneans. As a second-generation West African, I aim to co-create a therapeutic space that is culturally sensitive, and client led in promoting individual change and growth.

The therapeutic space is where you can share and explore what is important to you and re-evaluate experiences, feelings and thoughts that are making life a bit challenging. As an integrative practitioner with humanistic values, I focus on working with the client holistically and according to their needs. I incorporate a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT and a trauma-informed approach to reduce symptoms that may be causing psychological distress.

With a background in teaching, I have extensive experience of working with families, children, young people and adults in a range of settings including education, looked-after children, social services, NHS acute trauma service, NHS psychiatric services, primary care services and private practice. In my clinical practice I work with clients across the lifespan, families and couples, having completed systemic family training at the Tavistock and training in relationship therapy via the Human Givens masterclass.

My aim is for meaningful change through the process of therapy.
