About Dr. Esther Cole
I am HCPC registered, BPS accredited and a professionally insured Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS and private practice. I have worked in multi-disciplinary teams with clients with a range of mental and physical health, neurological conditions, challenging behaviour and cognitive problems, with very positive results since 2008 (qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2013).
I tailor make all therapies to the person, child, young person or organisation’s needs and draw on the best available evidence. This could mean offering a combination of different therapies such as CBT, systemic and narrative approaches or integrating several therapeutic methods until we feel we are making progress.

What Is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? (OCD)
OCD Therapy and Treatment at Lifespan Psychology
At Lifespan Psychology, we understand how overwhelming and exhausting living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can feel. Whether you’re struggling with unwanted thoughts, repetitive behaviours, or constant feelings of doubt and anxiety, you are not alone — and with the right support, things can get better.
We offer compassionate, evidence-based OCD therapy for children, teens, and adults. Our team of qualified psychologists and therapists provide tailored OCD treatment plans designed to help you regain control and improve your quality of life.
What Is OCD?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a mental health condition characterised by:
-
Obsessions: Intrusive, unwanted thoughts, images, or urges that cause anxiety (e.g. fear of contamination, fear of harm, intrusive thoughts).
-
Compulsions: Repetitive behaviours or rituals performed to reduce the anxiety caused by obsessions (e.g. hand-washing, checking, counting, seeking reassurance).
These cycles can interfere with daily life, relationships, and overall wellbeing — but effective treatment is available.
How We Approach OCD Treatment
At Lifespan Psychology, we use proven, structured approaches to support lasting change. Our OCD therapy may include:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): A highly effective, structured treatment that helps individuals understand and challenge obsessive thoughts.
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): A specialised CBT technique that supports individuals in gradually facing their fears and resisting compulsive responses.
-
Mindfulness and acceptance strategies to reduce distress
-
Psychoeducation and practical coping tools
Treatment is always adapted to the individual, with respect, empathy, and a focus on building trust and resilience over time.
