About Dr. Esther Cole
I am HCPC registered, BPS accredited and a professionally insured Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS and private practice. I have worked in multi-disciplinary teams with clients with a range of mental and physical health, neurological conditions, challenging behaviour and cognitive problems, with very positive results since 2008 (qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2013).
I tailor make all therapies to the person, child, young person or organisation’s needs and draw on the best available evidence. This could mean offering a combination of different therapies such as CBT, systemic and narrative approaches or integrating several therapeutic methods until we feel we are making progress.

What Is Psychosexual Therapy?
Psychosexual therapy is a specialised form of psychological treatment focused on addressing problems related to sex, intimacy, and relationships. These issues may have physical, psychological, or emotional causes — and often a combination of all three.
Some of the common areas we support include:
-
Mismatched libidos between partners
-
Navigating sexual identity or orientation
-
Past sexual trauma or emotional blocks
Our experienced therapists approach these topics with sensitivity, empathy, and a deep respect for your lived experience.
Understanding Sexuality Issues
Sexuality issues can arise at any stage of life and may involve confusion, anxiety, shame, or a sense of disconnection from oneself or a partner. These feelings are valid and very common. Whether related to gender identity, sexual orientation, body image, past trauma, or emotional intimacy, these concerns can impact mental health, relationships, and quality of life.
At Lifespan Psychology, we help clients explore these issues in a safe, affirming environment. Therapy may involve:
-
Understanding how beliefs or past experiences influence current challenges
-
Working through shame, fear, or guilt
-
Building healthier communication and emotional intimacy
-
Supporting self-acceptance and self-expression
-
Creating space for authentic and fulfilling sexual experiences
