Dr Neelam Nagra

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Neelam Nagra is a trained Counselling Psychologist, with 15 years’ experience in the field of mental health. She has been a qualified counsellor for seven years, working with people presenting with a range of difficulties, from mild to severe, and across the lifespan with adults, adolescents and children from the age of 12. These include people who have been bereaved, experience psychotic symptoms, struggle to regulate their emotions, and/or have experienced childhood trauma. Neelam has experience of leading a Counselling service within a hospice, working for a mental health charity, Mind, and in both secondary and tertiary care within the NHS.

Neelam works integratively, drawing from different models to find the best fit for you. She has a keen interest in working psychodynamically, whereby people may work on understanding some of their unconscious motivations for their behaviours as well as understanding their relational difficulties. She also has some experience working with Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), which offers skills to people who struggle to understand and regulate their emotions. Above all she prioritises the therapeutic relationship. She places an emphasis on making sure that you feel comfortable, providing a safe, non-judgemental and holding space, where together you can think about your difficulties and work through them effectively.
